1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to LocaleBit ("we," "our," or "us"). By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using the LocaleBit translation management software, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not access, purchase, or use the software.

2. License Grant & Permitted Use

LocaleBit grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to install and run the software on your server infrastructure.

  • Usage Limits: You are permitted to run the software on unlimited servers and use it to manage translations for any number of your personal or commercial projects.
  • No Redistribution: You may not sell, rent, lease, sub-license, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the LocaleBit software source files.

3. Self-Hosted Infrastructure & Responsibility

LocaleBit is designed as a self-hosted web application. You are solely responsible for:

  • Securing the environment and server host where the software runs.
  • Configuring appropriate authentication, credentials, and access control policies (including config files, environment secrets, and port exposures).
  • Backing up translation data, configuration assets, and logs.

4. AI Key Integration & External Fees

LocaleBit provides integration with third-party Artificial Intelligence services (such as OpenAI or other OpenAI-compatible APIs) to execute AI-assisted translation tasks.

  • Key Ownership: You must supply your own OpenAI-compatible API credentials to utilize AI translation features.
  • Third-Party Costs: You are fully and solely responsible for all usage charges, rate limits, and service costs incurred through your API keys with OpenAI or other providers.
  • No Affiliation: LocaleBit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with OpenAI or any other third-party API providers. Use of their services is governed by their respective terms and policies.

5. Support, Updates & Maintenance

Every software license purchase includes 12 months of free access to new feature releases, bug fixes, and minor updates.

  • Optional Renewals: To access software updates and maintain support after the first 12 months, an optional annual maintenance subscription of $25 is available.
  • No Interruption: If you choose not to renew the maintenance subscription, your software will continue to function fully using the latest version downloaded during your active update period.

6. Limitation of Liability & Warranty Disclaimer

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LOCALEBIT AND ITS CREATORS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL LOCALEBIT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF REVENUE, TRANSLATION ERRORS, SERVER DOWNTIME, OR DATA CORRUPTION) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF THE SOFTWARE.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to revise or update these terms at any time. When updates are published, the revised date at the top of this document will be updated. Your continued use of the software after updates constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms of Use.
