At LocaleBit, we respect your privacy. Because our translation tool is fully self-hosted, our primary privacy policy is simple: your translation data belongs to you, stays on your servers, and is never accessed or stored by us. This policy explains the limited circumstances where we collect billing/order data, and how third-party integrations function.

2. Self-Hosted Data Storage & Control

When you deploy LocaleBit on your infrastructure, configurations, environment variables and user data are stored locally inside your container volume.

  • No Remote Access: We do not operate remote tracking APIs or telemetry inside the self-hosted dashboard. We cannot view, modify, or export your translation files, credentials, or active localization targets.
  • Local Security: You are fully responsible for the security setup of your container environment, including configuring firewalls, enabling SSL/TLS certificates, and using strong passwords.

3. Information We Collect (Order Processing)

We collect standard commercial information necessary to complete transaction records and deliver purchase updates:

  • Billing Information: Your name and email address are collected at checkout through our payment gateways (e.g. PayPal).
  • Licensing & Updates: Your email address is utilized to verify subscription status, download updates, and authenticate access to our user support widget.

4. AI Translation Services (OpenAI-Compatible APIs)

LocaleBit uses outbound API requests to connect with your configured OpenAI-compatible API (such as OpenAI, DeepSeek, or a local server).

  • Data Transmissions: When performing translations, your self-hosted instance transmits content directly to your configured API provider's servers. No metadata or API request data route through LocaleBit's systems.
  • API Terms: These API transactions are subject to the policies of your chosen API provider. If you use OpenAI's API, transactions are subject to their standard policies which generally commit to not training models using user-submitted API payloads. We recommend reviewing your selected provider's privacy policies for complete details.

5. Website Cookies & Analytics

Our public marketing website (localebit.com) uses basic performance evaluation tools:

  • Visitor Statistics: We use lightweight analytics tools to track pageviews, CTA click rates.
  • Cookie Consent: Cookie analytics can be turned off if you don't want to provide any analytics data.
